There is something so wonderful about sharing great food and wine with good friends in the ambiance of an intimate atmosphere. Especially when it’s filled with meaningful conversation and tummy aching laughs.
Recently, one of my dearest friends invited us to vacation with them at their family retreat nestled in the Pikes Peak mountain of Colorado. The crisp mountain air and densely populated forest provided an amazing canvas for a much needed vacation. We spent most nights in the comfort of our digs, but anticipated our one night fine dining splurge.
At our hosts’ recommendation, we made dinner reservations at the The Black Bear Restaurant in Manitou springs. We found the concept of “The Black Be
ar” interesting:
No defined menu, select how many meal courses you like – five, seven, or twelve; then it’s up to the chef. We went with the seven-course option along with the recommended wine pairing and three entertaining hours later (I blame on the wine pairing), we headed back to our retreat with satisfied tummies.
